I take your privacy seriously and will only use your personal information in order to provide the services you have requested of me.
What I need:
I only collect basic personal data about you. This includes your name, phone number, email and postal address. This is collected by means of a contact form on my website (name, email and telephone) and also a contact information sheet when you commence lessons (possible further contact numbers and address).
Why I need it:
I need to know your basic personal data in order to provide you with one to one guitar tuition and to fulfil my obligations in relation to this overall contract. This will include, but not exclusively, sending lesson material to you, lesson timetables, invoices and lesson scheduling or rescheduling. I also need basic personal data to fulfil legal obligations to HMRC. Your name only will also be used internally to keep a track of student numbers and payments made. I will not collect any personal data from you that I do not need in order to provide and oversee this service to you.
What I do with it?:
All the personal data I collect is held on my personal computer. No 3rdparties have access to your personal data unless the law allows them to do so. This computer is password protected and I’m am the only holder of the password.
What legal basis do I have for processing your personal data?
Contract:
1, You have requested information from me as a first step towards forming a contract eg asked for lesson price and availability information.
2, If you take up lessons for either yourself or your child, I will have a contract with you and will need to hold personal data to comply with my obligations under the contract. This will include your child’s name if applicable.
Legal Obligation:
I need to hold certain personal information to comply with my legal obligation to HMRC.
How long I keep it?
Initial contact information is not kept unless:
1, You request to be put on a waiting list
2, You enter into a contract with me to provide you with guitar tuition.
On entering into a contract with me I will keep your personal data for as long as you continue to have lessons but in addition I am required under UK tax law to keep your basic personal data (name, address, contact details) for a minimum of 6 years after which time it will be destroyed.
What else do I use it for?
Nothing. Unless you have specifically requested that I hold your information on a waiting list to be notified when a lesson space becomes available, I will not contact you for any other reason than the provision of the guitar lessons themselves. Your personal data will not be used by me for any marketing purposes what so ever. Your data will not be passed on to any 3rd party unless, as previously stated, the law allows them to request it.
What are your rights?
If at any point you believe the information I hold about you is incorrect you can request to see this information and even have it corrected or deleted (deletion excludes any information I need to hold for HMRC). If you wish to raise a complaint on how I have handled your personal data please contact me directly.
If you are not satisfied with my response or believe I am processing your personal data not in accordance with the law you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
